CO-OWNER | HEAD COACH

Chris Treanor

Coaching is something that I was born to do. My life’s mission is to help people become the best version of themselves and I full heartedly believe that fitness and nutrition are the most important catalysts in doing so. I coach so many different athletes at different levels that to say one thing is my favorite would be hard to do because I enjoy it all. From my competitive weightlifters competing in National competitions to my grandmas learning to squat again, it all fulfills my purpose and brings me pure joy.

My favorite thing about coaching is getting to see peoples lives change physically, emotionally and spiritually. Coaching isn’t just telling someone what to do, it is creating a relationship with them and helping them find their true potential and reach the goals they have set. In that, I get to see so many other areas of their lives change outside of just their physical abilities. I also love being able to coach all levels of athletes and all age ranges in the same class doing the same workout, that brings a smile to my face every time.

I absolutely love everything about coaching! But, I would have to say my favorite thing about it is helping an athlete break past barriers and do something they haven’t done before. Whether it’s adjusting something physically they’re doing to improve a specific movement or encouraging them to push past the mental walls they build up in their heads. I love seeing them experience that sense of accomplishment!

My favorite thing about Blade is the community we have here at the gym. I choose to spend an hour of my day here myself to workout because it honestly does feel like a second home. Each and every coach and individual cheering me on while I workout has shaped me into the athlete & coach I am today. So doing that for others feels like the best job ever! Seeing people accomplish things they didn’t believe were possible is an amazing feeling and accomplishment.

Are you old enough to remember the “Husky” sizing back in the day? I was the poster child. Although I was very athletic, playing football and baseball, even a season of basketball, as a kid, I was always very heavy. I had several opportunities to seize a healthy lifestyle, through college ball and hockey, the US Army and then later through the Police Academy, but never married nutrition with my activity level.

Having been a youth coach, coached high school football, been the lead fitness instructor for my regiment in the Army and then on to become a Law Enforcement Fitness Instructor, one thing remained true…I LOVE seeing people exceed their performance goals and expectations.

Hometown: Smithtown, Long Island, New York (I was born 6 months after Lt Michael Murphy, in the same hospital)

Fun Fact: I was a manager for PetSmart for 5 years and was an expert in fish, reptile, and bird husbandry.

My passion is transforming bad days into a good one, eliminating self-doubt and showing people they are good enough. Whether I achieve this through coaching or sharing my own experience, I love helping people succeed. I coach CrossFit because the lessons I’ve learned from health and fitness have helped me in every aspect of my life that I want others to find their own path and overcome their own perceived limitations.
