Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Ft. Wayne, IN and came to Phoenix via Gainesville, Atlanta, Savannah, Nice, France, and Mexico City

What are your hobbies (besides CrossFit)?
I love to travel, hike, golf, and play the piano.

What is your occupation?
I am a software manager for a global business travel company.

How were you first introduced to CrossFit?
My sister in Colorado challenged me to try Crossfit for a month 6 or 7 years ago. I haven’t stopped since.

What is your favorite WOD/movement?
Deadlifts!  There is nothing like lifting 400+ off the ground,  dropping it, and feeling the floor shake a little.  It never gets old.

What is your least favorite WOD/movement?
Overhead squat.  I tip over when I lift over 45 lbs.

What CrossFit accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am proud of two different things.  First, I am happy that at 61, I can still keep up with life.  If I don’t do something, it is because I choose not to, not because I can’t.  I have been able to do a Spartan Sprint this year (thanks Jay!) and there were only 5 people in my age group out of 1000 men.  I was also able to do a charity hike for the Michael J Fox foundation in Colorado where we climbed two 14K peaks.  My involvement in Crossfit helps me participate instead of being a spectator.

The second thing I have accomplished is that I have learned how to trust my coaches and listen (and I am now two years injury free!).  Regardless of the workout, each and every coach knows exactly how I should adjust to get the most out of the day’s test – and then there is Claire’s uncanny ability to be right behind me at the precise moment when I am just starting to lose focus and pushing me on instead.  She knows before I do.

What is your favorite song to WOD to?
Whatever Coach Anthony plays.  He calls me B.O.B aka Bobby Ray.  I looked up a quote from B.O.B.: “I don’t think you can mix classical music and reggae.  It’s not possible.  But some producer in, like, Norway is going to put it together”.  Thanks Coach – I think.

What would you like to accomplish next through CrossFit?
Stringing double unders and pull ups together
