Where did you grow up?
I was born in Raleigh, NC and lived there till I was 12, but I’ve been in AZ ever since. So I’ve always considered AZ my home. Thinking about humidity just exhausts me, I’ll take the dry heat any day!

What are your hobbies (besides CrossFit)?
If I have the time, I’ll binge watch shows on Netflix all day, haha. But…I have two kids under 6, so…that doesn’t happen often! I love hiking, playing board games, spending time with family and friends. I was also recently reminded how much I love doing puzzles…now I just sound old! Whatever, it’s good for your mind 😉

What is your occupation?
I’m currently a stay at home mom with two kids under 6. If you didn’t already know, it’s hard work! But I went to school for graphic design and hope to get a career going with that again once my kids are in school full time. If you need something designed, I’m your girl!

How were you first introduced to CrossFit?
Well, my husband bugged me to join his gym for a good 6 months, but I just laughed, thinking, little ole me – lift weights with dudes, that’s funny! Then I met, Allie Green, her son was in my son’s preschool class. She kept bugging me to come to Blade and after I got to know her and met a couple of her friends (who are now some of my bestest friends!) I decided, what the heck, these chicks are cool! I’ll give cf a shot. Best leap of faith I ever took, now I’m hooked for life 🙂

What is your favorite WOD/movement?
Ooo, this seems to change every few months, I’m always down for box jumps and cleans, but I gotta say, I’m really digging the snatch. For whatever reason, whenever I accomplish anything with the snatch, I feel like a total badass. And that’s pretty cool.

What is your least favorite WOD/movement?
Haha, well, I’d have to say anything with my two weakest movements: kbs and rowing. If they’re both in the wod, that’s my worst nightmare!

What CrossFit accomplishment are you most proud of?
Ooo, this is a hard one. There are so many! Top 3: Running a sub 7 min mile, getting not 1 but 3 strict RX pull-ups in a row and RX-ing a thruster workout and a long one at that: Crossfit Games Open 14.5 (Thanks again Frankie for believing I could do it!)

What is your favorite song to WOD to?
I like Flo Rida – Going Down For Real. Anything Eminem. Mixed with a little JT and Britney Spears, lol.
But honestly, after 30 seconds into the wod, the music just becomes background noise and all I hear is myself and my many pep talks: keep going Suz, don’t stop Suz, one more rep, you can catch them, pick up the bar, pick it up! I know I’m not the only one who gives themselves pep talks 🙂

What would you like to accomplish next through CrossFit?
I have my list, certain pr’s I’d like to hit with different oly lifts, but my biggest goal is to master kipping pull-ups. When I’m strong enough to do kipping pull-ups in a wod, that will change so much for me…and give me the option to RX more often 😉

Fill in the blank:I love…I eat…I will…I am…
I love that my husband was right about how much he thought I’d love crossfit. I love that I’ve made the gym a part of my daily routine, something that I don’t even think about, I just DO IT. And I love that Blade isn’t just my gym, it’s my second family. I love all my Bladies!!!

I eat so much better when I have a meal plan to follow! I’m so thankful for Tammy (and Jamie) for showing me the light to the whole macros thing. Macros really work! And it’s nice to know that you don’t have to starve yourself to lose weight, you actually need eat more food and at the right times! But I still enjoy the occasional donut or side of fries 😉

I will never look at lifting weights the same again. I never knew how rewarding and satisfying that barbell could be. Blade has opened my eyes to a whole new level of fitness AND friendship. And that’s something I will respect and cherish forever.

I am going to get AND master kipping pull-ups. I am going to do at least one competition in 2016. I am going to snatch 100+ pounds. I am going to be at Blade 5 days a week, sweating it out with my favorite peeps and cheering them on till I’m too old to physically do it anymore!
