Where did you grow up?
I was born in Englewood, New Jersey. It’s a small city at the northern tip of the state about 20 minutes from Manhattan. I left when I was around 6 years old moving to AZ with my parents. We were practically homeless. I would spend summers in my hometown to make things easier for my parents and the rest of the time here in AZ we shared one bedroom. My sister and I shared the top bunk and my parents shared the bottom.
What are your hobbies (besides CrossFit)?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE making and listening to music (all kinds). I used to tour & perform professionally but now I just enjoy keeping it to myself. My dream is to travel the world without a plan figuring things out as I go. I also love dogs. I am fascinated by their unconditional love and loyalty. If they could speak I think it would be mind blowing what we could learn from them.
What is your occupation?
I am an analytics/statistics manager for a digital marketing company. I just landed here by coincidence after a serious injury and my music days. I still go to school and I take things one day at a time. I am still uncertain where I will end up or what I will do. I’d like to start my own business someday.
How were you first introduced to CrossFit?
I was doing “Insanity” in the open gym room at LA fitness when one of my old co-workers saw me and suggested it. When I started work at my current job another box was located across the street and I tried it out and loved the implementation of the weights and the consistency of being coached and evaluated daily. I’ve been to a few boxes and can definitely say Blade is the best I have been to. We are all lucky such a place exists!!
What is your favorite WOD/movement?
I honestly love any movement with a barbell. CrossFit has taught me how much I love weight lifting over cardio.
What is your least favorite WOD/movement?
Oh gosh I don’t think this is a secret. I hate running. Previous injuries make it dreadful.
What CrossFit accomplishment are you most proud of?
I would have to say that the accomplishment I am most proud of is being a part of a box as wonderful as our own. The only reason I ever achieved a CrossFit accomplishment to begin with is because I am at a place where I have so many wonderful people to learn from. This goes out both coaches AND box-mates. All of you are the most kind, sincere, humble, and wonderful people I have ever met. I am truly inspired on a daily basis by all of you.
What is your favorite song to WOD to?
Music really drives me. I have a million, but at this current moment…Can You Feel My Heart – Bring Me the Horizon. It’s heavy with cool sounds.
What would you like to accomplish next through CrossFit?
Skills will come with time. I wouldn’t mind learning the butterfly pull-ups for some better WOD times, but what I really hope to accomplish is becoming a better friend and person to each of you at the box. This is a great opportunity to let everyone at the box know that I was born partially deaf and some voices are harder to hear than others. It makes conversation a lot harder for me but I am determined to grow closer to you all!
Fill in the blank: I love…. I eat…. I will… I am…
I love life.
I eat anything that I can weigh/track.
I will never give up.
I am honored to be part of such an eye-opening & fantastic community.
