Our July Blade Athlete of the Month is Pam Terry. Pam has been one of the most consistent athletes at Blade averaging more than 5 classes per week for over a year. Not only does she attend class regularly but she also attends all of the Blade events, traveled to Regionals to support Claire, and attended the Crossfit Games this year with our Blade crew. Pam completely transformed her body during the last nutrition challenge and has since kept all of the weight off. She is everything in means to be a Bladie. Congratulations Pam! Here are some fun facts about our BAM:
Why do you crossfit?
PT: Well I have to give credit to Paul! He started doing crossfit and kept telling me I should try it since he knew I liked to workout (pre-kids) and I have a competitive nature about me. I must admit I was a little skeptical at first after listening to him complain about sore muscles and barely being able to walk in his first few months of crossfitting but I decided to give it a try. And well the rest is history…a year later, it is the best thing that I ever decided to do! I love the community and new friends I have made and especially DODGEBALL! I have learned so much over the past year from Chris and Claire! I am probably in the best shape of my life (which is amazing to me since I am in the over 40 crowd), eating healthier and influencing my kids to exercise and be healthy too!
What is your favorite benchmark WOD? (Girl or Blade)
PT: Not sure I have one since I have not been able to Rx any of them to date but if I had to choose one I would say Grace as I’m almost to Rx weight on my C&Js.
What is your least favorite exercise?
PT: Burpees! Pushups are a close second!
What are your hobbies?
PT: Crossfit, softball, Cardinal football games and watching my kids play soccer!
What is something that many people may not know about you?
PT: I love sports! My favorite past time is watching football, soccer, softball, etc (baseball not so much). Thankfully my son, Brody, has adopted a love for them too so we have a lot of fun going to games and watching them on TV. Sometimes I think Paul and Taylor think we are crazy as we yell and cheer a lot while watching. I’m a pretty quiet and reserved individual but when it comes to spectating at sports I sometimes get a little out of control! 🙂
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
PT: Well I have been pretty blessed my whole life and accomplished many things (thanks to the grace of God) but my most recent ” crossfit” accomplishment that I am proud of is the fact I was finally able to do a rope climb! I must give credit to Jaylean for helping and encouraging me up (Thanks J!). Although I must admit, coming down is more intimidating than going up! 🙂
What are your goals for 2014?
PT: To be able to do double unders and pullups in a WOD! Hopefully my shoulder will continue to get better and stronger and my calf muscle will stay in tact! 🙂
