Where did you grow up?
I was born in Arizona, lived in Texas during my high school days, then back to Arizona.
What are your hobbies (besides CrossFit)?
Hanging and doing crazy stuff with my 3 boys (13, 11, and 9). Beaching it, hiking, camping, road trips, coaching football, church camps, golfing, blowing things up, building things, and breaking things. Living life.
What is your occupation?
I have a commercial cabinet manufacturing business where we supply and install casework for elementary schools, high schools, colleges, medical offices, dental offices, hospitals, fire stations, and other corporate and government markets.
How were you first introduced to CrossFit?
“Pistol” Paul Coen got me started with CrossFit while working out at a gym, along with Sean and Doug. The 4 of us also were run through the gauntlet by Sean’s brother in law, a former army ranger, to get us trained for the tough mudder the first year it came to AZ. The training was not true CrossFit but very similar.
What is your favorite WOD/movement?
Let’s just say that I am humbled after every wod and I love it. Partner wods are always fun.
What is your least favorite WOD/movement?
My nemesis is burpees. It’s a mental block.
What CrossFit accomplishment are you most proud of?
Hand stand push-ups, originally thought there was no way that I could do them.
What is your favorite song to WOD to?
Bodies by Drowning Pool
What would you like to accomplish next through CrossFit?
The obvious of continuing to gain strength and agility but most of all to shorten the amount of breaks I take during wods, again it’s a mental block. I appreciate the yelling in the ear from both coaches and wod partners.
