Where did you grow up?
Born & raised in Roswell, NM. No, I have never seen an alien :).
What are your hobbies (besides CrossFit)?
I enjoy the outdoors and taking in all the amazing scenery AZ has to offer with my wife (Melissa) and kids (Kaylynn & TJ).
What is your occupation?
I own a property management biz.
How were you first introduced to CrossFit?
I was in a major fitness rut and needed a change. Renee Conviser (we’re neighbors) mentioned how much she enjoyed Blade and doing this thing called CrossFit, so I dropped into North one Thursday and was blown away by what these super-humans subjected themselves to on a daily basis. The positive environment was extremely inviting, and of course the wod was more than I could handle. Rob Schrafel ends every workout with a “See ya tomorrow”, so I had no choice but to come back!
What is your favorite WOD/movement?
WOD: Murph. I did it for the first time on the 4th of July at North, and it was a very humbling & moving experience to honor someone that way. The WOD is brutal, but the experience is amazing.
Movement: Most things with a barbell are fun.
What is your least favorite WOD/movement?
Overhead Squats and I are currently working through our differences. We will be friends eventually, but it has been a difficult relationship up to this point.
What CrossFit accomplishment are you most proud of?
Not allowing myself to skip workouts because I’m intimidated by them.
What is your favorite song to WOD to?
I’m a country guy, so that usually doesn’t make the playlist….but I get a kick out of watching Bashaar re-live the glory days via the 80’s hairbands. 2Pac and Biggie are good too. And that stuff Frankie listens to…not sure what it is but it makes the Thursday beat downs a little more manageable!
What would you like to accomplish next through CrossFit?
Aside from my OHS project mentioned above I’d like to improve my performance at body-weight movements.
