Where did you grow up?
I’m a rare Arizona native.
What are your hobbies (besides CrossFit)
My first love will always be the sport of baseball. Outside of athletics, I like to express my creative side by painting, doodling, and dabbling in different crafts. Overall, I’m pretty much up for trying anything.
What is your occupation?
I’m a Physical Therapy Tech in pursuit of becoming a DPT. I want to be a Ben Palmer / Brittany Peters when I grow up!
How were you first introduced to CrossFit?
I was going through a rough year after retiring from softball. I ended up in the worst shape of my life. My college teammate invited me to a little garage where her and her friends did “crossfit.” After finishing my first WOD, I ended up in the corner for 30 minutes wondering what just happened to me, and I’ve never looked back.
What is your favorite WOD/movement?
Olympic lifts. There’s something about taking a heavy object from the floor, getting it over my head, and throwing it back on the ground that makes me feel like I can do anything. It’s a time “ginger rage” is acceptable.
What is your least favorite WOD/movement?
Gymnastics, on the other hand, make me feel like the least athletic person on the planet. I’ll get those darn pull-ups one day.
What CrossFit accomplishment are you most proud of?
Handstands terrified me for a long time. I never thought I’d be comfortable enough to get into one without help, but Coach Claire and Coach Tammy helped change that!
What is your favorite song to WOD to?
EDM or some solid screamo for when I’m really in the mood to kill a WOD. But I always look forward to the music on Frankie Thursday’s.
What would you like to accomplish next through CrossFit?
I’d like to gain more confidence in my gymnastics skills so I can compete in some local comps with no reservations.
