Where did you grow up?
I moved to AZ from CT when I was about six months old, and – aside from a one-year stint in NY immediately after graduating high school – I have been here ever since.

What are your hobbies (besides CrossFit)?
I’m a dad of two girls, so mostly I’m just being a parent to them. But outside of that, I enjoy reading, playing video games with my girls, and whenever I can steal a few minutes to myself, I either work on the book I’m writing, or I record for my nerdy podcast.

What is your occupation?
I teach fifth grade at a local charter school.

How were you first introduced to CrossFit?
My wife was introduced a year before I began through a friend. It took a year because I knew if I started I would love it, and it was hard to justify both of us spending an hour and a half at the gym with our girls entertaining themselves. We’ve made it work, and they love it as much as we do!

What is your favorite WOD/movement?
Anything BB related, because it’s been exciting to watch my limit get pushed, and my weight increase over the past year.

What is your least favorite WOD/movement?
You know, I hated running with a passion when I first started, but after sixteen months of WODs with running… I still hate it.

What CrossFit accomplishment are you most proud of?
Aside from just being consistent (even on a cross country road trip last summer), I would have to say every PR is my greatest accomplishment. It shows I’m pushing myself and getting better, even if it doesn’t feel like it.

What is your favorite song to WOD to?
For sprints, it’s High Hopes or anything with a 90bpm (music drives me – if I can fall in time with the tempo, I can keep up the momentum indefinitely). There’s a song I’ve only heard at Blade that is another motivator, but I don’t know the name of it. I asked Coach Gage about it, and he knew which song I was talking about, but he didn’t know the name of it.

What would you like to accomplish next through CrossFit?
Handstand Pushups. Or Double Unders. But definitely losing my love handles by my 40th birthday (in October this year)

Fill in the blank: I love…. how much of a community CrossFit is, and how warm and accepting they are of everyone. And my wife and daughters.
